Volume 2 covers Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges and Ruth: the wilderness generation and its failure, Moses' final addresses and the renewal of the covenant, the conquest and allotment of the land, the long cycle of apostasy and deliverance under the judges, and the account of Ruth that leads toward David.

The revised Expositor's Bible Commentary, edited by Tremper Longman III and David E. Garland, is a multi-contributor evangelical series keyed to the English text. Each section gives an overview, verse-by-verse commentary, and notes on the original languages kept separate so readers without Greek or Hebrew can use the volume comfortably. These books carry the narrative from Sinai to the edge of the monarchy and include some of the hardest material in the Old Testament for modern readers. Useful for preaching series through the historical books.
