Nicodemus had religion but not life. John MacArthur expounds John 3 to show what the new birth is, who accomplishes it, and why no moral effort can substitute for it.
Riccardi teaches that sanctification flows from union with Christ and the Spirit’s work, not human effort alone. As believers behold Christ in Scripture, they are steadily transformed into His likeness through renewed minds and obedient faith.
He highlights the church’s role in growth, stressing preaching, accountability, and shared life. Riccardi warns against legalism and passivity, urging a grace-driven pursuit of holiness that rests on God’s power while calling for active obedience.
