The warmest of the Reformation catechisms, arranged for daily devotional use rather than for memorization drill. Edited by Amanda Martin. Read more.
The Heidelberg Catechism has always been the most pastoral of the Reformation catechisms - it opens not with the chief end of man but with the only comfort in life and death - and it reads more naturally as devotion than as drill.
This edition, edited by Amanda Martin, arranges the catechism for devotional reading across the year, in the pattern the catechism itself sets out: our sin and misery, our deliverance in Christ, and our gratitude. A good way for a reader to absorb it who would never work through a question-and-answer book as such.
