In this Bible Speaks Today volume Dale Ralph Davis explains the background of Daniel, works through the stories and the visions, and sifts the interpretive issues that have made the book contested. His own summary is that Daniel offers a realistic survival manual for the people of God: a word for believers living as a minority under powers that do not acknowledge the Lord.

Davis is known for exposition that is exegetically careful and unusually readable, and this is the replacement volume in the Bible Speaks Today Old Testament series. The Bible Speaks Today format aims at the preacher and the serious lay reader rather than the specialist, expounding the text in continuous prose rather than verse-by-verse notes. 173 pages, paperback.
