Boice on all twelve Minor Prophets, complete in two volumes. Hosea through Malachi preached with the historical setting kept clear. Read more.
This two-volume set, supplied complete, contains Boice's exposition of all twelve Minor Prophets. The first volume covers Hosea through Jonah and the second Micah through Malachi, treating each prophet in his own historical moment and drawing out the themes that run across the collection: covenant unfaithfulness and its consequences, the justice God requires of His people, His compassion toward the repentant, and the promises that reach forward to Christ.
The Boice Expositional Commentary series grew out of James Montgomery Boice's pulpit ministry at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, which means the chapters began as sermons and read like them: Reformed in conviction, pastoral in tone, and free of technical apparatus. The Minor Prophets are badly neglected in most pulpits, and a two-volume expository treatment of all twelve is an unusually practical way in. Please note this listing is for the complete set of both volumes rather than a single volume.
