The New American Standard Bible is the most literal of the major English translations, which has always made it the natural text to pair with notes written to explain what the words say.

This edition binds the second edition of The MacArthur Study Bible in black genuine leather with a fore-edge thumb index, carrying John MacArthur's verse-by-verse study notes, book introductions and articles from more than fifty years of work. The combination of a literal text, a leather binding and an index is about as practical as a study Bible gets.
