Bishop J.C. Ryle's Holiness deserves a place near the top of any list of must-read books, writes John MacArthur in the foreword to this edition. Written in a simple, easily accessible style, it is nevertheless one of the finest theological works you will ever read, proving again that doctrine does not need to be treated in a sterile, abstruse or academic manner in order to be profound.

This book is also the most practical and helpful of all the counseling resources I keep in my library, MacArthur adds. This Moody edition is abridged, which makes it a sensible entry point for a reader who has been put off by the length of the full text, and inexpensive enough to give away in quantity.
