Among all the things a pastor does on any given day, he must not lose sight of his one ultimate goal, which is the sanctification of God's people. That is the heart of God's own purpose for Christians.
John MacArthur calls pastors to remember what the countless hours of sermon preparation, hospital visits, counseling and weddings are actually for, even when the finish line seems too far off to be worth running toward. The encouragement is to put the sanctification of God's people at the center of the ministry and leave the results to God.
